The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has launched a new tool for vehicle owners to update their vehicle records and tax status. Here's how you can update your records step-by-step:
To begin the process, vehicle owners need to submit a duty record update request letter to the nearest NTSA office. This letter should contain the following details:
-Full name and contact information of the vehicle owner.
Once the request letter is submitted, you will need to provide the following supporting documents:
-A copy of your ID (for individuals).
-Original vehicle logbook.
-Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) entry document.
-Duty payment receipt.
After submitting all the necessary documents, the NTSA office will stamp your request letter as proof that the documents have been received.
NTSA will process the records and notify the vehicle owner once the update is complete. This process takes up to 7 working days.
Once the records are updated, vehicle owners can collect their updated documents at NTSA offices, following these guidelines:
-Collection Time: Documents can be collected from Monday to Friday, during working hours.
-Required Documents for Collection:
1.Stamped request letter.
2.Original ID of the vehicle owner (for individual owners).
3.Authorisation letter (for entities, such as companies or organizations).
This service is free of charge.
After updating your vehicle records, you can apply for a duplicate logbook via the NTSA eCitizen portal. The steps are as follows:
1.Log into eCitizen: Access your account on the eCitizen portal.
2.Submit Application: Apply for a duplicate logbook by providing the required details.
3.Fee Payment: Pay a fee of Ksh 2550 for the duplicate logbook.
4.Processing Time: The logbook will be generated and ready for collection within three working days.
NTSA has cautioned vehicle owners against engaging with unauthorized individuals or unofficial channels that may offer to fast-track or influence the application process. If you encounter such individuals, report the matter to the nearest NTSA office or the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for further action.
