In Kenya, your KRA PIN (Personal Identification Number) is essential for many financial and legal transactions—from filing tax returns and opening a bank account to applying for government jobs or tenders. If you’ve forgotten or misplaced it, there’s no need to panic. KRA offers ways to retrieve your PIN using your National ID number, provided the details match your registered records.
This guide walks you through the formal ways to retrieve or check your KRA PIN using your Kenyan identification card.
1.Click ‘Forgot Password/Unlock Account’ on the login page.
2.Enter your ID number or email address if linked to your KRA account.
3.You will receive a reset link or confirmation email if the ID is recognized.
4.Once inside your iTax profile, your KRA PIN is displayed at the top of your dashboard.
Note: This only works if your ID was previously linked to your KRA profile.
If the iTax system doesn’t respond, or your details aren’t recognized, you can request assistance from KRA directly.

-Full Names (as per ID)
-National ID Number
-Date of Birth
-Mother’s Maiden Name (for identity verification)
-Request for KRA PIN retrieval
-Email: callcentre@kra.go.ke
-Or message KRA’s verified X (formerly Twitter) or Facebook pages.
The support team will verify your identity and email the KRA PIN to your registered address.
If you prefer a face-to-face approach or don’t have access to email, visit any Huduma Centre or KRA office with:
-Your original ID (not a copy)
-A clear reason for your visit (PIN retrieval)
An officer will verify your identity and retrieve or reprint your PIN certificate.
-Ensure the ID number you provide is the same one used when registering the KRA PIN.
-If your details were not updated or your email isn’t linked to your KRA profile, you may have to update your profile first through a manual form or at a KRA office.
-Never pay any third party for PIN retrieval—KRA services are free.
Your KRA PIN is a digital identity—keep it as safe as your ID card. While recovery is possible using your ID number, repeated loss can create delays in compliance or business transactions. After retrieving your PIN, consider downloading and storing your KRA PIN Certificate safely, both digitally and in print.
