The theory accelerated when a short video clip of Netanyahu addressing the public appeared online. Some viewers paused the footage and claimed his hand appeared to show six fingers. Because AI-generated images have historically struggled with hands, the screenshot quickly became “evidence” for people who believed the video itself was artificial.
Soon, the narrative shifted from curiosity to a full-blown conspiracy theory claiming Israel had released an AI-generated video to cover up Netanyahu’s death.
Closer inspection of the clip shows that the alleged sixth finger appears only in one distorted frame. When the video plays normally, the hand looks ordinary.
Experts reviewing the footage say the illusion can be explained by common video artifacts such as motion blur, finger overlap, and perspective distortion. These effects can easily create shapes that resemble extra fingers when paused at the wrong moment.
In other words, the viral screenshot likely captured a visual glitch rather than proof of AI manipulation.
Despite online speculation, there is no credible evidence that Netanyahu has died.
He has continued making public remarks and addressing security developments involving Israel and Iran in recent days. These appearances contradict claims that he has not been seen since early March.
Government communications and international reporting also continue to reference him as actively directing Israel’s response to regional tensions.
The rumor gained momentum because of the moment in which it appeared. During conflicts, public information is often limited, creating space for speculation.
At the same time, the rise of AI-generated media has made audiences suspicious of official footage. A single unusual detail—like the supposed extra finger—was enough to convince some viewers that the video must be fake.
Social media amplification then turned a minor visual anomaly into a global conspiracy narrative.
There is no confirmed evidence that Benjamin Netanyahu is dead.
The viral claim appears to be the product of a misinterpreted video frame combined with wartime misinformation and heightened public anxiety about artificial intelligence.
