Tata Essy, known for her influential gospel music career and online presence, was officially ordained as a pastor during a night kesha (all-night prayer service) in Kenya. This milestone reflects her deepening commitment to spiritual leadership and ministry.
The ordination came shortly after a controversial leaked audio recording surfaced online. In the recording, Tata Essy and fellow gospel artist Karangu Muraya discussed personal issues concerning Karangu’s wife, Triza Njeri. Essy expressed concerns about Triza’s financial situation and questioned Karangu’s support towards her, which sparked significant public backlash.
Following the leak, Tata Essy publicly addressed the issue, clarifying that her intentions were to support and advise Triza Njeri, warning her against returning to an unfavorable situation. Despite criticism, Essy remained focused on her spiritual mission.
During the ceremony, Essy was seen in symbolic attire — initially a pink dress with mustard flowers and a light blue turban, later donning a white robe with red layers, representing purity and spiritual authority. Congregants prayed for her success and new role in pastoral leadership. Essy expressed gratitude towards her close supporters, especially her friend Dada Sarah, for their encouragement during challenging times.
