Karangu Muraya’s life story begins with deep hardship. Born into a large family with little means, he often had to drop out of school because his parents couldn’t afford the fees. Later, he rejoined in Form 3 and pushed his way through, determined to change his destiny.
In Nairobi, he hustled as a street vendor, selling mutura, then moved into a cosmetics business which collapsed, leaving him broke. These failures shaped his resilience and hunger for success.
Karangu’s fortunes changed when his gospel songs gained traction across Kenya. His uplifting message, coupled with his powerful vocals, made him a household name. Nicknamed “Mr. Wonderful,” he turned his platform into a channel of hope, funding education, housing, and medical support for struggling families.
With fame came success. Karangu expanded into agribusiness, establishing a modern poultry farm in Gatundu, showcasing his entrepreneurial side. His car collection, which includes a Range Rover Sport, Toyota Harrier, and Lexus, reflects his transformation from a man who once had nothing to one living comfortably.
Karangu’s personal life has attracted just as much attention as his music.
-First Wife – Triza Njeri (Mama Esther): She is the mother of his children and the woman who stood by him through his early struggles. Over time, however, their relationship grew cold, marked by distance and silence. Triza has openly voiced frustration over Karangu’s choices, including his decision to build another home for his second wife while she remained in the village.
-Second Wife – Carol Kim: Introduced into Karangu’s life around 2022, Carol became his source of peace when tensions with Triza escalated. They live together in Nairobi, where Karangu affectionately calls her “Jacob Mwenyewe.” She has embraced polygamy with confidence, often appearing publicly with him.
While Karangu showers both wives with recognition, public drama has followed, with Triza expressing her hurt in livestreams and raising concerns about unequal treatment.
