Bullet Bras Evolution || Where did Bullet Bras go to?
What was meant to be a peaceful and joyous return home after thirty years abroad turned into a devastating tragedy. David Mutaaga, aged 69, and his wife Deborah Mutaaga-Nabeeta, aged 62, were found murdered in their residence in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo, Entebbe, just days after returning from Switzerland, where they had lived for over three decades.
The couple had recently settled back into their newly built retirement home, intending to enjoy the rest of their lives in Uganda. On the evening of Sunday, July 6, 2025, they reportedly hosted guests. Hours later, an eerie silence and suspicious activity led to a grim discovery by their housemaid on Monday morning.
David was found dead near the gate of the compound with severe injuries, while Deborah was discovered inside the house, brutally attacked in the bathroom. Both had sustained multiple stab wounds, indicating a violent and deliberate assault.
Initial investigations have revealed no signs of forced entry. The house gate is electronically controlled and had not been tampered with, nor were there signs of window or door breakage. This has led authorities to suspect that the perpetrator(s) may have had direct access to the home or were possibly known to the victims.
There were indications of tampering with the roof, suggesting that the assailants might have entered through less conventional means. Surveillance footage from neighboring compounds is currently being reviewed by investigators.
It is believed that during the attack, Deborah managed to place a distress call to a relative or friend, indicating the presence of intruders. David may have gone outside to confront or investigate the disturbance and was attacked there.
The presence of guests earlier in the day adds complexity to the investigation, with police working to trace interactions and potential conflicts or threats that may have preceded the murders.
The Uganda Police, under the Kampala Metropolitan jurisdiction, has launched a full-scale investigation. Forensic teams collected fingerprint and blood evidence from the scene. The bodies were transported to Mulago City Mortuary for detailed postmortem examinations.
The police have interviewed the housemaid and are seeking further testimony from neighbors and the guests who had visited the couple that day. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may assist the case.
The killings have sparked widespread concern and grief in the local community. Friends, neighbors, and extended family members expressed shock and sadness, particularly given the couple’s longstanding ties to the area and their reputation as respected and peaceful individuals.
The fact that this attack occurred so soon after their return from abroad has raised fears about the safety of returning diaspora citizens and the growing problem of targeted home invasions.
This case underscores the urgent need for improved neighborhood surveillance, stricter community policing, and fast-tracked investigations in cases involving returning diaspora citizens. The Mutaagas came home with plans to retire in peace. Instead, their lives were brutally cut short.
The Uganda Police Service continues to appeal to the public for any leads or tips that could help solve the case. Justice, in this instance, is not only about resolving a heinous crime but restoring a sense of security to a community now plagued by fear and suspicion.
