Fans of celebrated Kikuyu benga musician Waithaka wa Jane were left in shock when news broke that the artiste had been arrested in Germany. The incident quickly trended across social media, with worried netizens demanding answers about what had happened to their beloved singer.
The first hints of trouble surfaced when Kameme FM radio host Muthoni, also known as Baby Top, went public with the news, sharing details of a phone conversation that revealed Waithaka had been detained by German authorities.
According to Baby Top, the musician had been invited to perform in Germany for a highly anticipated event. However, just hours before the performance, a promoter identified as Rafikiz reportedly sent an email notifying them that the show had been cancelled.
The cancellation created confusion as Waithaka had already travelled to Germany specifically for the concert. Immigration officials questioned why he remained in the country despite the cancellation, leading to his unexpected arrest.
Waithaka was reportedly taken into custody by immigration officers early in the morning and held for several hours as authorities verified his documents and reasons for being in Germany.
“He was detained since 7 a.m. We have cried a lot with Adrian,” Baby Top shared, describing the emotional toll the situation had taken on Waithaka’s team and close associates.
The uncertainty surrounding his arrest left many fans anxious, with some taking to TikTok and Facebook to share prayers and messages of support for the artiste.
After his release, Waithaka wa Jane broke his silence, narrating the harrowing ordeal to his fans. He described the incident as one of the most traumatizing experiences of his life, saying he had never imagined being accused or detained in a foreign country.
He thanked his loyal fans, family, and colleagues for standing by him during the ordeal and reassured everyone that he was safe and determined to continue performing and creating music.
