President William Ruto concluded a major regional development tour in Nyanza by inspecting progress on the Lichota Airstrip in Migori County. The project is expected to improve transport connectivity between southwestern Kenya and neighboring regions while supporting trade and tourism activity.
The inspection formed part of a broader effort to demonstrate ongoing national investment in infrastructure within the Lake Victoria basin, an area that has historically featured prominently in Kenya’s political landscape.
A central highlight of the visit was the government’s renewed focus on the blue economy. The President outlined plans to expand fish landing sites and strengthen support infrastructure for fishing communities around Lake Victoria.
