A Nationwide Registration Push Begins
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has launched a large-scale recruitment drive to support its upcoming Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise at the ward level.
The 30-day operation is designed to bring voter registration services closer to citizens.

It targets first-time voters, individuals seeking to transfer polling stations, and those updating personal details. By decentralizing the process, the Commission aims to expand participation and strengthen the credibility of the voter register ahead of future elections.
To execute this plan effectively, the IEBC is recruiting 12,520 temporary staff across the country.
Positions Available
The vacancies are distributed across three roles:
Voter Registration Assistants – 1,450 positions
Voter Registration Clerks – 10,780 positions
ICT Clerks – 290 positions
These roles will be deployed at ward level, meaning applicants are likely to work within or near their local communities.
Youth have been strongly encouraged to apply, signaling an intentional effort to involve young professionals in the electoral process.
What the Jobs Involve
Voter Registration Assistants
These officers coordinate field operations. They supervise clerks, manage equipment, compile daily reports, and ensure that registration targets are met. Strong organization skills and leadership ability are important for this role.
Voter Registration Clerks
Clerks serve as the direct interface with citizens. They operate biometric registration kits, verify identification documents, capture voter details, and guide applicants through the process. Comfort with digital tools and public interaction is essential.
ICT Clerks
ICT Clerks handle the technical backbone of the exercise. They set up and troubleshoot registration equipment, manage connectivity issues, and ensure secure data transmission. Applicants with ICT training or strong technical competence are best suited for this position.
Qualifications and Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must:
Be persons of integrity and politically neutral
Successful candidates will undergo mandatory training and take an oath of secrecy before deployment.
Pay and Engagement Period
The engagement runs strictly for the 30-day ECVR period. Reports indicate successful applicants may earn approximately Ksh 2,000 per day, depending on the specific role and assignment.
Though temporary, the positions offer meaningful public service exposure and practical administrative experience.
Application Process and Deadline
Applications must be submitted online through the official recruitment portal:
jobs.iebc.or.ke
Applicants should upload all required documents, including copies of identification and academic certificates. Accuracy and completeness are critical.
Application Deadline: Wednesday, 4th March 2026.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
Why This Matters
A credible voter register is the foundation of any election. By taking registration services directly to wards and recruiting thousands of temporary officers, the Commission is strengthening grassroots access to democratic participation.
For many applicants, this is more than short-term employment. It is a direct role in shaping Kenya’s electoral future.
