Bullet Bras Evolution || Where did Bullet Bras go to?
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly expressed his grief following the untimely death of popular Kenyan comedian KK Mwenyewe. In an emotional statement issued on Tuesday, July 15, Gachagua, who is currently on an extended visit to the United States, described the fallen entertainer as a "content creator par excellence" and a "resilient, consistent young man" whose work captured the essence of Kenyan society through humor.
KK Mwenyewe, born Zachariah Kariuki, rose to prominence through his online skits impersonating Gachagua himself — a move that catapulted him into the national spotlight. His comedic talent not only earned him a massive following on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook but also made him a beloved figure in the entertainment scene.
KK Mwenyewe passed away on the night of Monday, July 14, at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital. According to close friend and fellow comedian Kafengo, he succumbed to a short illness. His death came as a shock to his fans and fellow entertainers, many of whom had followed his last online activity posted on July 4.
The 1.1 million TikTok followers and over 400,000 Facebook fans who laughed along with his skits are now left reeling from the sudden loss. KK’s deadpan expressions, perfectly timed satire, and portrayals of Kenya’s political class – especially Gachagua – became his trademark.
KK’s breakout moment came during the 2022 election season when he posted a skit mimicking Gachagua’s exaggerated reaction to the Kenya Kwanza win. With his comedic portrayal capturing the former DP’s style — from mannerisms to speech — the skit quickly went viral. KK didn’t just stop at the voice and gestures; he transformed his entire look. Sporting oversized suits and padding his stomach to resemble Gachagua’s frame, he committed fully to the role, to the delight of his audience.

From there, KK expanded his act to other politicians and relatable characters, resonating with the everyday struggles and joys of ordinary Kenyans. He became not just a comedian, but a mirror reflecting Kenyan society — sometimes hilarious, sometimes painfully real.
Despite being the subject of most of KK’s viral content, Gachagua had nothing but praise for the late comedian. In his tribute, the former DP noted that KK “spoke to our hearts” and commended him for using humor as a tool for communication, unity, and social commentary.
He described waking up to the news of KK’s death with a heavy heart, highlighting the young man’s potential and the void he leaves in Kenya’s creative landscape. Gachagua’s tribute stood as a testament to KK’s influence and the power of art to bring even its subjects into admiration.
Before his fame, KK Mwenyewe was just another student at Kisii University. His passion for comedy and media saw him start off with low-budget skits, often using basic equipment and enlisting friends for filming. His dedication quickly paid off. As his content gained traction, KK earned interviews on national platforms and support from public figures, including Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, who once cleared his fee arrears at the university.
He represented a generation of young Kenyan content creators who turned digital platforms into stages, transforming everyday struggles into laughter — and in doing so, making a name for themselves.
Though his life was tragically short, KK Mwenyewe leaves behind a rich legacy of satire, courage, and creativity. His ability to make Kenyans laugh while subtly addressing political realities set him apart. He proved that comedy isn’t just entertainment — it’s a tool for truth.
As condolences continue to pour in from all corners of the country, his fans, family, and colleagues mourn not just a comedian, but a storyteller, a young man with unmatched potential, and a mirror to the Kenyan experience.
