Kenya’s aspiring medics have been handed a golden second chance. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its student portal to fill remaining slots in 28 Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) programs for the September 2025 intake.
This move, announced on July 23, comes after the initial application window closed on July 7, leaving several courses unfilled. With only six days left before the application window shuts again, time is of the essence for those eyeing careers in the health sector.
Out of the 28 courses now open, nine are certificate programs and 19 are diploma-level offerings, giving students across different academic brackets an inclusive opportunity. Whether you’re looking to step into the medical field through an entry-level course or aiming for a specialized diploma, there’s a slot for you—if you act quickly.
-Medical Engineering
-Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine
-Health Insurance Management
-Health Records & IT
-Community Health Assistant
-Public Health
-Nutrition & Dietetics
-Emergency Medical Technician
-Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing
Many of the certificate programs have corresponding diploma versions, and beyond those, applicants can also apply for:
-Radiography and Imaging
-Medical Laboratory Sciences
-Community Oral Health
-Optometry
-Occupational Therapy
-Health Counselling
These programs are offered at various KMTC campuses across the country, providing a wide net of access to students from different regions.
Applications are strictly made through the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.net. To apply or confirm your status, you'll need the following:
-Your KCSE index number
-The year you sat for your KCSE
-Your password, which is your KCPE index number or birth certificate number
Once logged in, applicants can browse available KMTC programs and submit their applications before the deadline.
The reopening of the portal comes shortly after KUCCPS released placement results for the initial round of applications on July 18. Thousands of students who had applied between June 23 and July 7 were advised to log in and confirm their admission status. However, due to unfilled slots in 28 courses, KUCCPS is now offering this final window to ensure no seat goes unoccupied.
KMTC is widely regarded as a national pillar in the training of health professionals, with its graduates deployed in both public and private healthcare facilities nationwide. For many, this last-minute opening could be the turning point toward a lifelong medical career.
The message is clear: if you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to join the medical field, this is it. The window is narrow, the clock is ticking, and the future is calling.
